Read Psalm 62 and 63
In both of these Psalms, there is one common denominator. Not only has David learned that God is his only rock and refuge for salvation, but that it is only through God that he can obtain REAL SATISFACTION. David has learned, according to Psalm 62:5, to receive and wait for all his help from God, because his expectation is from God. Do you understand what that means?
A WORKING FAITH!
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
God has given us many promises in His eternal word. We have a promise, or a title deed, signed by the author Himself, of things to come in the future. The key to the Christian’s life is his faith. God will give the Christian anything in the world that he may hope for which is according to His will and His word. I believe God wants us to be the soul-winning station in our areas. God wants people saved in our communities and our country. He would not have that any should perish.
KEEPING THE RULES IN LIFE!
According to Revelation 1:3, “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.”
We must first read the word of God before we can hear from God. We are not only to read and hear from God, we must obey the words that He speaks to us. He said to keep those things that are written within. So, the Christian has a threefold responsibility. He must read the word of God, he must hear it,
THINK BEFORE YOU VOW!
Read Judges 11:29-40
Here we see the perfect example of a spirit filled, brave and dedicated man making a serious vow regarding his daughter. In verse 29, the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah. As brave as he was, he still needed a divine preparation for his work and God graciously gave it to him…..
Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
For many years God had been attempting to do something wonderful in the church that I pastored for twenty-seven years. There was opposition, too abundant to mention. There were been attacks from within as well as without.
BE NOT AS USUAL!
Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
I believe one of the greatest problems in these days in which we live is that we have a tendency to think small. Somehow we have acquired the philosophy that it is wrong to succeed, that it is wrong to be diligent and dedicated to a task. We have been taught, or at least given the impression, that we ought to care for the poor (and we should) and those on welfare and food stamps before the people who work. The problem is that somehow this is becoming the norm. The desire to work hard and strive to be successful has been downgraded and criticized…..
Break up the Fallow Ground!
Read Hosea 10
In Hosea 10, the prophet sharply rebukes the nation of Israel for their wickedness. In verse one he calls them an empty vine. They became selfish, lived for self and turned to idols. In verse two, their heart is divided. In verse four, they made false covenants. In verses eight and nine, their sin shall be destroyed. In verse ten, the warning of chastisement is given. In verse twelve, he speaks to them in the language they can understand, ……..
