Preparing for Jesus!

 Read Luke 1:13-17

Think about a bride preparing for her (Knight in shining armour) – husband, during her engagement. She will get married whether they have made any preparation or not. One major difference is that there may be a lot of unforeseen things that could hinder a smooth marriage ceremony.

Here is the application: you are going to heaven whether you are prepared or not (assuming of course that you are saved). But certainly there ought to be some preparation before you make the trip. In other words we ought to go to heaven prepared. The Pastor must prepare before he preaches his sermon and the Sunday school teacher must prepare before he/she teaches the lesson, etc. John the Baptist was prepared while he was being prepared, and that is the job of the pastor of the church – to prepare a people for heaven; while he himself is being prepared. May I say that it is also the job of every teacher and every Christian in the local church. There are always those around us who are babes in Christ. How can we be of help in preparing others for heaven and our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ?

IT IS THE JOB OF THE CHRISTIAN LEADER AND THE CHRISTIAN LAYMAN TO TEACH PEOPLE TO LIVE HOLY. HOW?

By teaching them to FEAR GOD. By teaching them to have FAITH IN (TRUST) GOD. By teaching them to FOLLOW GOD. IT IS OUR JOB TO TEACH PEOPLE TO LOVE GOD.

IT IS OUR JOB TO TEACH PEOPLE TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

Jesus Christ gives it as a command. It is the second greatest command of all.

IT IS OUR JOB TO TEACH PEOPLE TO LOVE THE BIBLE.

To read it. To apply it. To proclaim it.

IT IS OUR JOB TO TEACH PEOPLE TO SERVE GOD.

It comes through loving God and His Word. It is an honor to serve Him and has eternal blessings. I have often said that it is truly an honor to serve God and to teach people to share in this honor is truly a privilege.
