Christ’s Call to Sanctification!
2 Peter 3:18, ” But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever.”
Because of the many references to grace, you could call this passage, “God’s Amazing Grace.” Someone has called it “God’s Riches at Christ’s Expense.” God did not save us because of our own goodness, but because of God’s abundant grace. The words grace and mercy come from the same Greek word. We have God’s mercy because of His grace. He cannot look upon our sin, or even upon His Son on Calvary. Because of grace we can have fellowship with Him, and with His Son, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He declares us righteous because of His grace. It is nothing that you and I have done, but all that Christ has already completed. As a matter of fact, He looks at the sinner through His grace. He sees us as righteous because of His grace. Look at the people God used in the Bible. If He had looked at their sin, all would have been condemned to go to hell. Let’s look at the genealogy of our Lord and the four women He included.
First, there was Tamar. Tamar was a harlot who deceived her own father-in-law by playing the harlot with him. She was a sinner! Zerah, son of Tamar was the great-grandfather of Achan, whose sin caused the defeat at Ai. Despite her sin, she was named in the genealogy of Jesus Christ. That is a picture of the grace of God! To be concluded tomorrow!
Read Acts 1-2. Pray for God’s power upon your pastor.
