Why Jesus Christ Is Worthy!
Revelation 5:12, “Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.”
The coverings of animal skins were acceptable to God because of the shedding of the blood of an animal. The promise of a redeemer in Genesis 3:15, “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel,” came between man’s attempt to cover his own sin in verse 7, “And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons,” and God’s sufficient covering in verse 21, “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.” Man’s reaction to God’s provision was faith and hope in the Lord. Verse 20, “And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.” God’s provision for Adam and Eve symbolized that man could come before the very presence of God.
When Noah came out of the ark, his first act was to build an altar upon which he sacrificed animals to God. This pleased God not because God wanted a sacrifice, but because Noah’s act showed that he understood his sinfulness, its penalty, and the need for a blood sacrifice. Noah recognized God’s gracious provision and His promise that he would never again destroy the earth by flood. God blessed Noah because of his faith. Later Abraham re- joiced in anticipation of the appearance of a promised Redeemer. We should rejoice, as well. To be concluded tomorrow!
