Please read 1 Corinthians 13
Love never dies; love is never defeated; love is never disillusioned; love is never disappointed.
Why? Because love is eternal. Listen to a Poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning:
“Love looks beyond the bounds of time and space,
Love takes eternity in its embrace.”
The reason there are so many divorces in our culture is because we have forgotten how to love and what love really is.
This is the kind of love that holds two hearts together no matter what. Christ never ceased to love and you cannot do anything to keep Him from loving you. Why? No sin is beyond His love!
Look at verses 1-3 again, our motive of love.
In verses 4-7 is the definition of love.
In verses 8-13 is the action and attitude of love.
2 Peter 1:5-10, “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall.”
So, bottom line is that love is the mark of real Biblical maturity.
