In John chapter 14, Jesus was anticipating His own death. In this portion of Scripture are given several promises. These promises are conditional. There is a requirement that must be met before we are able to enjoy the blessing of God’s promises.
- We are promised an everlasting peace.
He promised us His peace. A peace that passes all understanding.
John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Psalm 29:11, “The Lord will give strength unto His people: The Lord will bless His people with peace.”
The peace that only Jesus can give comes from within – A peace that comes from an undying confidence that God is in control.
- Jesus is sufficient to meet all these problems.
The Scripture says in John 14:1 “Let not your heart be troubled…”
Death of a loved one can surely bring about a troubled heart. It is not a normal everyday occurrence, or nearly every day. Because it is not normal.
- Because of the hurt.
- Because of the empty place that is behind.
