1 Corinthians 15:1-8
The Greatest Event in History! Please don’t miss it. Let me say this resurrection Sunday morning: CHRIST IS RISEN!
But, you say, how do you know that the resurrection is real?
I BELIEVE IN THE RESURRECTION BECAUSE OF THE TESTIMONY OF THE SAVED
Well, some might say, that certainly isn’t very reliable. Well, it may not be but the truth of the matter is that most of what we know is simply because somebody told us about it. How do you know that Columbus discovered America in 1492? Were you there? No, you were not there, but there were people who witnessed and wrote about it. How do you know that Neil Armstrong walked on the moon? Well, you say, I know it because I saw it on Television. But, there are people to this day who insist that it was all some kind of a Hollywood hoax.
Many of these same people would insist that the slaughter of six million Jews (Holocaust) is a lie and that the International Space Station and program is some kind of a Hollywood production, etc. I cannot prove it or disprove it either way and neither can you. But, I do believe that a man has walked on the moon because a lot of people have told me about it. We have far more biblical and historical proof of the resurrection than any other event in history. Why? Because it is the GREATEST EVENT IN HISTORY!
When Mary went to the tomb on the resurrection morning she did so with a heavy heart. Her Master, her teacher, her friend had died. She stood at the entrance to that tomb weeping. And then she hears a voice call her name, “Mary.” She calls out to the disciples, “Come see.”
Now, listen to what Jesus tells Mary. He tells her, “Go tell….” I believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ because of THE TESTIMONY OF THE SAVED:
I BELIEVE IN THE RESURRECTION BECAUSE OF THE TESTIMONY OF THE SCRIPTURE
Hundreds of verses teach on the subject of Jesus’ resurrection in the New Testament alone. We are told that this event is a sign for unbelievers (Matthew 12:38-40); as well as the answer for the believer’s doubt (Luke 24:38-43). It serves as the guarantee that Jesus’ teachings are true (Acts 2:22-24; 1 Corinthians 15:12-20) and is the center of the gospel itself (Romans 4:24-25, 10:9; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
Not to mention the fact that the resurrection is the power for evangelizing the world (Matt. 28:18-20), the Christians power to live the Christian life (Rom. 6:4-14, 8:9-11; Phil. 3:10) and the reason for the total commitment of our lives (1 Corinthians 15:57-58). Also, it is a picture of our resurrection from the dead (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18) and provides a glimpse of heaven for us (Philippians 3:20-21; 1 Peter 1:3-5).
I BELIEVE IN THE RESURRECTION BECAUSE OF THE TESTIMONY OF OUR SAVIOUR
If Jesus did was not raised from the dead our faith is a silly daydream. However, if the resurrection of Christ did occur, it confirms His life, message, and vicarious work. It is the basis of our hope of eternal life. Christ is alive, and the evidence is all around us.
Thank The Lord Jesus for His great gift of salvation offered to all who will believe.
