One of the questions I am asked most, “Preacher, how can I be a better Christian.” My answer is always much the same…quit trying.
Give yourself to The Lord and His will, and allow Him to mold and make you in the image of Christ. Of course, it goes without saying that SALVATION MUST BE FIRST.
Comments: The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 4:1-2, “Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.”
Verse 1. In the New Testament the office of steward was to provide things that were necessary for the use of a family. And so the office of a minister of the gospel, and its mysteries, is to give out instruction, guidance, and counsel as may be necessary to build up the church of Christ and to make known the truths in the gospel. Truths which had not been made known before Jesus Christ, and are therefore called mysteries.
The implication in this verse is:
- That the office of a minister is one that is subordinate to Christ because they are his servants.
- That those in the office should not abuse the power of the office.
- Just as a steward the minister holds an honorable office.
- That Christians should appreciate the teaching and counsel of ministers, and give them their true honor for the Gospels sake.
