Read 2 Peter 3:9-17
God did not intend for us to be overcome by failure. He has provided a way for us to be happy and free from guilt. Yes, you can escape from those dark clouds of remorse. The way to freedom is to appreciate and appropriate His forgiveness.
If you are a born-again child of God and you believe the Bible, then believe God for this. You can know both the joy of peace with God and the peace of God, because He stands ready and willing to forgive your every sin.
1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
You will notice that there are no exceptions, no matter how small or great the sin. Christ died and paid for all sin. God never becomes weary of an honest confession, nor does He ever run out of patience for those who sincerely seek forgiveness. Be thankful to the Lord for this great blessing. How foolish for us to go on feeling guilty! How foolish we are to dig up what He has buried, etc.
Psalm 103:10-12, “He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”
Jeremiah 31:34, “I will forgive their iniquity, and will remember their sin nor more.”
When God forgives He forgets. You cannot forget your sin, but God does. Therefore, if you are struggling with something in your life that displeases the Lord, don’t let it get you down but confess, repent and forget it. Try with His help to forsake it, and claim His forgiveness. Break free from the feeling of guilt by accepting His forgiveness.
