“BIBLICAL CHILD TRAINING!”

An experienced parent once said, “Before I got married I had six theories about bringing up children, now I have six children and no theories.”

In chapter 5 the church was designated as the Bride of Christ.
In chapter 6 she is to be a good soldier of Christ.
In the future the church will be presented as the Bride of Christ.

The first lesson a soldier must learn is to obey those in authority. He must learn to follow orders. His basic training starts in the home. In fact, to learn how to give orders largely depends on how he learned to obey his parents. The victories of the Christian life are won in the home.

Proverbs 22:6, “Train” Literally means “to touch the Palate of the child.” When a Hebrew mother would feed her baby she first chewed the food and then put it on the tip of her finger and in the mouth of the baby. This helps the baby to swallow. The Palate is the little sensitive portion of the roof of the mouth & has a little dangling thing in back of the throat known as the Uvula.

Lesson: when the child grows old he will never have a problem (or depart from), because he was trained to swallow and take in the Word of God.
What makes a good parent?

Salvation and wholehearted love for the Lord (Deuteronomy 6:4-5; Proverbs 20:7).
God’s Word dwelling in the heart (Deuteronomy 6:6).
(3) A diligent teacher of the Scriptures (Deuteronomy 6:6-9).
One who corrects the child and does not draw back because of his
protests (Proverbs 13:24; 19:18).
A good example (Proverbs 4:11).
Provide the children’s physical needs (1 Timothy 5:8).
Train the child in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4).
Do not provoke the child to wrath and discourage the child by your inconsistency and unreasonableness and un spirituality (Ephesians 6:4).

“GENUINE BIBLICAL LOVE!” Conclusion!

1 Corinthians 13

When it comes to serving God, it is easy to become overly concerned with who gets the credit. But we need to learn that what is important is that God receives the honor.

II. BIBLICAL LOVE IS ALWAYS OTHERS ORIENTED.

A loving person will not boast in verse 4. If you are living righteously people will see it, but if you have to tell people you are living righteously you aren’t.

Proverbs 27:2, “Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.”

III. BIBLICAL LOVE IS NEVER PROUD OR SELF-EXALTING.

A humble man may acknowledge his achievements, but he is never conceited about them. He knows that God did it all. Keep in mind, anyone who does anything does so because of God, not because of our heritage, educational background, or level of sophistication, verse 5.

True love does not demand “What’s in it for me?” but asks, “What can I do for someone else. If you want to rekindle the flames of love, keep self out and let God work in your life.

A selfish outlook will spoil and destroy all of the qualities of GENUINE BIBLICAL LOVE.

The greatest love of all, was the love Jesus gave when He died in our place. May God help us to give ourselves to Christ and others for the rest of our lives.

“GENUINE BIBLICAL LOVE!”

1 Corinthians 13

Love must be specific action not general for mankind. In other words it must be individualistic.

The Apostle Paul penned what has become known as the love chapter of the Bible.

He shows that a spiritual person is controlled by the Holy Spirit of God, not just by a gift of the Spirit, and that spiritual love will be pre-eminent in a Christians life.

By looking in the mirror of God’s Word, we are able to see areas in our own lives which need improving, if we are to be genuinely loving spouse, family member, friend or co-worker God would have us to be.

Look again at verse 4.

I. GENUINE BIBLICAL LOVE IS FIRST OF ALL LONGSUFFERING.

It patiently endures injuries, trials, and troubles. It restrains us from angry outbursts or emotional scenes when thing don’t go “our way.”

Biblical love is kind, tender and it cares about the welfare of others, not about self.

Love is always others oriented. It does for others and expects nothing in return. True love displays a thoughtful, tender, gracious, caring and understanding attitude toward another. According to the Bible love envieth not.. is never jealous.

How do you respond when others excel and receives special recognition? When another person achieves, we ought to praise the Lord and be glad for their accomplishment.

“TEN REASONS WHY I KNOW THE BIBLE IS THE WORD OF GOD!”

Psalm 119:89-112

Tell what the Bible means to you. Now, here are ten Reasons….

I. BECAUSE OF ITS AMAZING UNITY!

Sixty-six Books, with different individuals. The Bible is the only Book that makes sense.

II. BECAUSE OF ITS INDESTRUCTIBILITY!

Emperors and others have tried to destroy it from the very beginning.

Fools have tried to discredit the Bible. Ingersoll, Payne, etc.

In AD 303 Diocletion ordered, “get rid of all the manuscripts.”

In 313 Constantine asked, “are there any left” as many as 50 were found.

III. BECAUSE OF ITS HISTORICAL ACCURACY!

IV. BECAUSE OF ITS SCIENTIFIC ACCURACY!

The Bible is not a Book of Science, but all it says is true.

Isaiah 40:22, “It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.”

V. BECAUSE OF ITS PROPHETIC ACCURACY!
VI. BECAUSE OF ITS CARE AND COPY!

Monks would copy Septuagint with much care and time.

VII. BECAUSE OF ITS AMAZING CIRCULATION!

The Bible is still the World’s best seller.

VIII. BECAUSE OF ITS UNIVERSAL APPEAL!

IX. BECAUSE OF ITS ABSOLUTE HONESTY!

David, Solomon…etc.

X. BECAUSE OF ITS POWER TO SAVE!

Have you read it? Is the Bible the most important book to you?

“BEWARE OF THE SERPENT!”

SATURDAY-MONDAY, OCTOBER 7-9, 2017

1 Peter 5:8, 2 Corinthians 11:3, 13-14

In studying the New Testament, you can see that Satan tried continuously to silence the church. When the attack from without failed, Satan changed his strategy and began a plan to divide the church from within. Tactics have not changed today. If he does not succeed as a devouring lion, he will come as a deceiving serpent or as an angel of light.

The early church was spirit-filled. As you study the book of Acts, you find some outstanding characteristics of a spirit-filled church.

Read Acts 2:41-47

I. THE SPIRIT-FILLED CHURCH IS A UNIFIED CHURCH.

This God given unity does not simply imply a well-organized institution. This unity involves trust, a giving spirit, and an “others orientation.” The church at Jerusalem was unified in doctrinal beliefs, as well as in fellowship, giving, and worship.

Acts 2:42, “And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.”

II. A SPIRIT – FILLED CHURCH IS A MAGNIFIED CHURCH.

Satan attempted to disgrace the early church.

The religious rulers of the day opposed the work of the believers but many people were drawn to them because of their testimonies of faith. It was the fear of the common people that restrained the religious leaders in their attack. A spirit-filled church will have its enemies, but what the Lord is doing will attract those who are seeking to know God.

In the first church evangelism became the ministry of every Christian, not just a chosen few.

Not only a UNIFIED, MAGNIFIED:

III. THE SPIRIT-FILLED CHURCH IS A MULTIPLIED CHURCH!

Why? Because every member sought to be an effective witness for Jesus Christ.
Most people who come to church, are saved or walk the aisle, do so; because one of our members took of their time to invite them to come.

Then, after they came forward, someone led them to the Lord with the BIBLE IN HAND. (By the way soul-winners, always open your Bible so that people can see the Word of God is speaking and not your opinion).

Too many times people come forward during the invitation, and are never shown from the Bible, but convinced that they are saved.

I just had another young man tell me yesterday, that he went through years of his life thinking that he was saved, when he was not. Let’s be careful to always show them the scriptures.

Remember God said, “His Word shall not return unto Him void,” not your word.

Think of it, several members of our local church are involved in one person receiving Christ.

The church will be MULTIPLIED and believers added as each member faithfully witnesses for Christ.

In Chapter four of Acts we are introduced to Barnabas whose name means “son of encouragement.”

Barnabas had sold his possessions and gives the money to the church to meet the needs of the believers.

He was a spirit-filled man who gave his all to the Lord.

Spirit-filled believers today will emulate the spirit of these early believers and give willingly to the work of the local church.

Barnabas act of generosity filled two people with envy.

Annanias and Sapphira’s sin was not that they did not give all their possessions to the Lord.

Their sin was hypocrisy – a deliberate deception to have people believe they were spiritual when really they were not.

Satan worked to destroy the church from within by causing Annanias and Sapphira to put on a “lovely front” in order to conceal the ugly sin in their lives.

This deception was energized by Satan.

Satan is a liar and a murderer. He lied to and through this couple and their lie led to their deaths.

When God judged Annanias and Sapphira He was letting everybody know that He would not tolerate deception in His church.

Satan wants to divide the church, disgrace the church, decrease the church and the ultimate goal is to destroy the church.

But just like those believers, the church can completely triumph as we remain spirit-filled and UNIFIED, MAGNIFIED and MULTIPLIED.
