Don’t miss a day of this three-day great thought.
The New is better than the Old. Why? Read Hebrews 7:19.
1. It is established on better promises. Verses 10,12.
2. The Old was based on performance and fears the New on faith and willing heart. Verse 10.
3. The Old made a covering for sin; the New gives confession and forgiveness: a complete washing away.
4. The New rests upon the accomplished redemption through Christ.
So, what am I saying? The CROSS-OF CHRIST made the difference, and is the key.
I. SO WE HAVE FIRST OF ALL ACCEPTANCE.
We no longer live under the law but under Christ. Jesus on the cross is our acceptance.
We cannot deserve what God has done for us. “I hope”, “I tried”, etc.
Praise the Lord! He did it for us.
When we confess our sin, we are trying to get His ACCEPTANCE, which He has already given us on the cross.
We need to learn to separate ourselves from what we are and what we do. Your conduct may not be what it ought to be, but you are still a child of God.
His love is based upon what He did, not what we are trying to do.
II. WE HAVE HIS ASSURANCE.
That is, assurance of His Grace.
III. WE HAVE HIS AVAILABILITY.
God is for us anytime.
