GOD COULD NOT FIND HIS MAN IN THE PRINCES, PROPHETS, PRIESTS, SO NOW HE GOES TO THE 4TH GROUP.
IV. THE PEOPLE – THE LAYMEN VERSE 29.
The people followed after their unreliable spiritual leaders giving themselves to robbery, affliction, etc. rather than helping the poor and needy.
Now follow me, here comes the most important part of this message: Under these conditions God looked for even one man among them who would act for Him, standing against the iniquities, building up the wall of the city and closing its gaps. HE FOUND NONE.
Ezekiel himself was no longer in Palestine but on the banks of the river Chebar in Chaldea. Jeremiah could not go because he had been put in prison.
Therefore, there was none to stand between the people and judgment that their sins deserved. So God poured out His indignation on them and consuming them with the fire of His wrath.
Look again in verse 30. Sin always makes a gap in the hedge of protection.
But wait a minute, there is a way of standing in the gap:
1. Repentance of sin.
2. Receiving the only One who can stand in the gap.
3. Reforming their life. You will remember that Moses stood in the gap for his people. Abraham stood in the gap for wicked Sodom & Gemorrah.
4. So, God expects someone reading this today to stand in the gap.
5. If not, ruin will certainly follow.
DO WE REALLY CARE?
