“FOUR JUDGEMENTS!”

Hosea 5:1-15.

Hosea is the first book of the section in our Bibles that we often refer to as The Minor Prophets. Reason: The last twelve Books in Old Testament are shorter books than Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, or Daniel–not that they are any less important. In fact, their messages are very relevant today.

You could almost put the Minor Prophets in one hand and today’s Newspaper in another and they fit together. Hosea is pleading with Israel to turn back to The Lord, as the nation had been unfaithful to The Lord.

Hosea had an unfaithful wife, but he still loves her, Hosea. 3. With deep compassion Hosea was able to plead with Israel to return to the Lord. The Prophet warned the nation that judgment would come.

No nation can separate from God without paying a bitter price in judgment. This judgment comes in various ways. God presents one of these ways in 5:12.

AMERICA MUST REALIZE: Moths eat slowly, and rottenness moves slowly. But, when a nation fails to be faithful to God, judgment may move slowly; but judgment will move certainly unless some drastic action is taken to correct it.

Finally, judgment will come in another way; as a young lion snatching the prey Hosea. 5:14. America has been in the moth and rottenness stage. Unless there is revival in America, she will move into the young lion stage. Hosea 4:6.

IT SHOULD BE CLEAR THAT FOR A JUDGMENT TO BE MADE THERE MUST BE AN ABSOLUTE STANDARD OF RIGHT AND WRONG. THE ONLY STANDARD IS THE BIBLE–GOD’S WORD.

Those who trust in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross “shall not come into condemnation.”
