“FUNTIONAL CHRISTIAN HOMES” CONCLUSION!

Read Epesians 5:21-32

V. HUSBAND MUST PROTECT HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN. VERSE 25, HOW?

“Even as Christ loved the church.”Meet her spiritual, emotional, physical needs.

Protect them from evil means not only from impending danger from without, but from what comes in. “The eye and gate.” Man is the aggressor and woman is the responder. Look at Song of Solomon 1:15 and 2:15.

First the Bridegroom says in 1:15, “Behold thou art fair, my love; behold thou art fair, thou hast doves’ eyes.”

Then she responds in 2:16, “My beloved is mine, and I am his.”

VI. PROMOTE DISCIPLINE IN THE HOME.HEBREWS 12:1-6.

Discipline is not punishment.  As a matter of fact, God does not necessarily punish His children, but He chastens them. If the TV and computers rule in your home, you are not in charge.

There are four headships in this text.

  1. WIFE SUJECT TO HERE HUSBAND.
  2. HUSBAND TO CHRIST.
  3. CHILDREN TO PARENTS.
  4. SERVANTS TO MASTERS.

This is a willing subjection to someone who loves you.

VII. PURITY AND HOLINESS IN THE HOME.

  1. A Personal walk with God.
  2. A Pleasing relationship with oneanother.

Ladies must be feminine and act like ladies. Men must be masculine and act like Godly men. A woman ought not to wear that which pertaineth unto man.

Deuteronomy 22:5, “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.” Also see 1 Peter 3:1-7

I believe Paul’s teaching is that the Home is to be a mirror of the relationship between Christ and the Church.
