As we conclude “GOD ENABLED ME” don’t we ever get tired of fighting good people?
Read 2 Timothy 4:1-9 again.
I. PAUL FOUGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH. 1 Timothy 1:12-15.
He was a trophy of grace. He realized it was all God, and it was He that enabled him. And that’s what he thinks of himself. It was God that enabled him, not his own merit. 1 Timothy 1:11, 1 Corinthians 12:18.
“Set and appointed” – same word. God put me here is what Paul is saying. Your ability is God enabling you.
Look at Exodus 11 God is saying, “Moses, I made you and will lead you.”
Look at Judges 6 when Gideon tells God, “Look, I come from a poor family, etc.” But God enabled him.
II. HE FINISHED HIS COURSE.
The course is laid out and must be completed. Finish your course and don’t compare yourself to other people.
Acts 13:25, “And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.” 27:1, “And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus’ band.”
Remember that Luke wrote the Book of Acts, so that means that he was with Paul at the shipwreck. God told him to write about Paul, not himself. He could have said, “I was there too.”
III. HE REALIZED THAT THERE WAS A REWARD.
For all those that love His appearing. All our praise will go to Him when we get to heaven. Let’s just go ahead and struggle in the struggle until Jesus comes as God gives grace. Let’s endure hardness as a good soldier and finish the course. Are you going to be a soldier who will endure or a coward who will quit because of fear?
