Matthew 19:16-30,
Verse 26, “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”
Omnipotence is an attribute of God only and means “all powerful.” As with His Omniscience – God is all knowing; Omnipresence – God is everywhere.
God is all powerful, all knowing, and He is everywhere. That means He knew all about the attack on America on 911, the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. He knows of all the wickedness going on in America and the world today. He knows about the fires in California and the hurricanes on the eastern coastline, etc.
I used this quote several years ago and is worth repeating in this reading: Several years ago I had a call from an unbeliever who asked a logical question, “how can a loving God allow such a terrible thing?” After spending a few moments answering his question in the best way possible; he then he asked the question, “Is God up There?”
Certainly this is a good question for someone who does not believe in a loving God, and I can understand why others may ask the same question, “Is God up There?”
I am sure all would agree that things have been rather trying in the past year. Not only the politics and many other trying events in our history, and one would have to have a heart of stone not to be effected by the suffering and human loss in these great tragedies.
In the closing months of the year we want to teach on God’s Omnipotence, or the fact that He is all powerful. Satan also has power, however; it is a limited by a Sovereign God.
The Bible is filled with the power of God in every area of life and God has given us illustration after illustration of His faithfulness in granting His power to those who obey and believe.
