Read Malachi 3:6-13
Let us first of all look:
I. THE CHARGES AGAINST GOD’S PEOPLE
1:2, God says, you do not love me as you should.
But the people answer, “wherein?”
Deuteronomy. 7:8, and 10:15, Isaiah 41:8.
1:6, God is saying, “you despise my name” – the people say, “not me!”
They pretended to worship Him.
1:7, God says, “you are offering inferior service.” “Not us.”
2:17, God says, “you make me tired.” The people say, “who, me?”
3:7, God says, “you are backslidden.” They say, “us?”
3:8, God says, “you even rob me.”
3:13, God is saying, “you even speak against me.”
II. THE CAUSES 2:1-9.
A. They were impartial in their incomplete service.
B. They lived polluted lives.
C. They believed the wrong doctrine, covenant breakers and false accusers.
D. They had bad attitudes. Do as I say not as I do.
III. THE CONSEQUENCES.
A. Silence for over 400 years.
B. God does not speak through the people, but His Prophets.
IV. THE CONCLUSION 3:16-18.
A. The need of leadership with integrity.
B. The necessity of fellowship with unity (love and holiness).
C. The new birth planned.
