Read Philippians 3:1-10.
Take time to be Holy; go to bed and get up in an attitude of prayer, and then He will reveal Himself to you.
I. KNOW THE WORD OF GOD BETTER.
II. CULTIVATE YOUR PRAYER LIFE.
III. WATCH YOURSELF IN SIN!
He will never leave you if you sin, but hide His face from you. Isaiah 59:1-2, “Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”
It is the little foxes: the little foxes of envy, jealousy and hatred. If there is sin, there is really no need to pray.
Psalm 66:18, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:”
Someone said, “You need to clean up your own door step before you come to mine.”
IV. TELL OTHERS ABOUT JESUS IF YOU WANT TO KNOW HIM BETTER!
Go into all the world and preach the gospel is a command to all of us. You and I were saved to work. We were not saved by works, but we are to work after salvation. We were saved to tell the story and be sold out for him.
It is not an easy road to follow Him, but what a blessing to know Him better.
V. EXPERIENCE SOME OF HIS SUFFERINGS.
The Bible calls it, “the fellowship of His sufferings.”
“Are we willing to be hated by the world, as He was? If so, it is evidence that we love Him; if not so, and we are just seeking the crown of glory, it is doubtful whether we have ever known anything of the nature of true faith and suffering.” Barnes Notes
VI. WATCH FOR HIS COMING Acts 1:6-11.
He will come the same way He went: personally, visibly, in the twinkling of an eye, and on the Mount of Olives. He may come today, or He may not come for fifty years or more; but, we are to watch for His coming. Are you watching?
