Read Ecclesiastes 11:9-12L1.
Why don’t we all decide to live right and for Good so that we can have good memories in the future? Do you have pleasure in your memories? Isn’t that what we are really doing to shape the future, by shaping our memories for the future?
Don’t trade five minutes of fun for good memories. Will you look back to this summer with pleasure? Or, will you say, “I have no pleasure in them?” Who is the real you? What is he or she all about? Are you different from what your family sees at home? Do you live by double standards?
That is exactly where most of our depression comes from in the future. How can I live a future with good memories? What happened to Solomon that he had no pleasure in his memories? How can we avoid making the same mistake?
11:9 – LEARN TO REJOICE IN GOD’S BLESSINGS TODAY.
I. Act your “own” age.
In other words, live your age, and don’t rush the washing machine.
II. Add to your years.
Or, as Dr. Hyles used to say, “be a childish, juvenile, adult.”
III. Arrive at your goal.
Set you mind on a goal and don’t get off track. Remember to “Finish Strong.” Make that your goal: by living and doing right today. Two problems:
You get discouraged and quit.
You want to get there too soon.
Examples: Quitting school, or getting your sexual desires before marriage. In football the key is teamwork and the goal is to get the first touch down, then another tough down and then win.
