Read 1 John 3:1-9
Verse 3, “And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.”
Remember what you are, is more important than what you do. Do all you do on purpose. Make your self what you want to be.
I. CHOOSE WHAT INFLUENCES YOU.
Don’t let the commercials on TV or radio determine what influences you, but be around what will help you reach your potential and get you where you want to be.
Decide your direction and use the motivation to get you there. Find someone who has been where you want to be and you map your way. In other words; the way you want to go with the Lord’s leadership.
II. CHOOSE WHO INFLUENCES YOU.
You are going to be what you read and who you are around. You can’t go to places of influence without being influenced for good or bad.
Listen to certain radio preachers and you soon begin to question your own church. They get you on what you agree and get you hooked and your doctrine and standards have changed. Unfortunately, rarely for the better.
Here is what happens you can’t take out the good and leave the bad because both will influence you.
III. CHOOSE WHEN TO DO IT.
Start by choosing priorities. Decide what is important in your life.
IV. CHOOSE WHAT YOU READ AND SEE.
You think what you read – read the Bible.
V. CHOOSE WHAT YOU THINK.
By that I mean, choose your thoughts and emotions. That is your responses, etc. Learn to control your thoughts like a pilot controls his cockpit. Think about what others need rather than what you want. Be in charge!
Dr. Jack Hyles said everything ought to be like a planned diet.
VI. CHOOSE YOUR SUCCESS.
When you have a good day, analyze it and try to do it again.
Conclusion: no matter how great a potential we may have, if we do not use the gifts God has so graciously given; little will change in our life.
