Read Mark 6:30-34
# 1 was, “REFLECT ON YOUR ACTIVITIES FOR THE DAY, WEEK, MONTH AND YEAR, VERSE. 30.”
II. GET AWAY BY YOURSELF AND REST AWHILE, VERSE 31.
A desert place. A quiet place, across the sea from Capernaum, where they would be free from interruption.
Rest a while. Rest is necessary for those of us who labour; and someone said, “A zealous preacher of the Gospel will as often stand in need of it as a galley slave.”
Coming and going. Coming to be healed and resting, or coming to hear Him preach. Meaning: there were multitudes of people attending His preaching.
Matthew 12:15, “But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;”
A. Realize that if Jesus needed to withdraw, so must we.
B. Realize the importance of spiritual rest and refreshment.
And they had no leisure (eukaireo) so much as to eat. This is the only time “leisure” is used, however; in two other cases the Greek word eukaireo is used: to have good time, opportunity or leisure or have leisure (convenient time), spend time, well-timed, convenient, in time of need.
Acts 17:21, “(For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time (eukairos) in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.)”
1 Corinthians 16:12, “As touching our brother Apollos, I greatly desired him to come unto you with the brethren: but his will was not at all to come at this time; but he will come when he shall have convenient time” (eukairos).
