Read 1 Kings 12:1-15 again.
I. BE RESPONSIBLE YOURSELF.
II. TEACH HIM TO DO MINER TASKS. (Teacher give examples).
There are some things you can trust your child to do. Dad, when building something in the garage, don’t just show him how to drive a nail, let him do it. Mothers, let your daughters cook some cookies. Here is what happens if we don’t teach them: They will become dependant on others, and become welfare cases.
Also, they will lack in confidence. Don’t you see that is why we hear so much about self-esteem? On the other hand the child that was taught to do some things will take on new challenges.
This will help him the rest of his life.
III. TEACH THEM TO MAKE DECISIONS.
One of the greatest problems with men and women, they cannot make a decision. Teach them to make decisions daily. Make them decide whether to have peanut butter or baloney on their sandwich. If he cannot decide which toy to buy now, he will not be able to decide on a tractor for his business.
Now, here is the biggest problem: When they finally do make a decision, they are never secure with it. God made us with the ability to choose that is what our faith is all about. By the way, it will be easy to get them saved when they are old enough to understand.
Don’t delay any longer, start asking God to help you today, to teach your child to be responsible in minor tasks, make decision; so that you will not be guilty of failure because of neglect.
