Our prayer should not be that God would guide us safely, but that He would show us His way.
On Monday we learned, I. THE NEED FOR HIS GUIDANCE.
II. THE NATURE OF HIS GUIDANCE., TRUST!
The animals are guided by instinct, but God has given us a greater liberty and thereby, a greater responsibility of choosing or rejecting His guidance. With privilege comes responsibility.
We cannot earn it. We don’t deserve it. Not by skill but simply to TRUST with a childlike faith. It involves:
A. Surrender of self.
“Lean not unto thine own understanding.” We want Him to guide us in our own way. Lean on Him for strengthening our understanding.
B. A complete and wholehearted faith,
“Trust with all thine heart.”
Every thought, affection, and desire must be given to Him or at least a real honest effort must be given.
C. It must be an active faith.
God will guide us, but we must follow HIS direction. It is vain for us to pray for His leading and then go our own way.
TO BE CONCLUDED TOMORROW!
