Please read Proverbs 3:1-10 again.
Review the past two lessons if time permits.
God will guide us, but we must follow HIS direction. It is vain for us to pray for His leading and then go our own way.
I. THE NEED OF HIS GUIDANCE, FAITH
II. THE NATURE OF HIS GUIDANCE, TRUST
III. THE METHOD OF HIS GUIDANCE. THE HOLY SPIRIT!
A. He will often use our own conscience as a guide.
He is no less divine because He is the author of our new nature. But it is easily corrupted with the old nature, so we need the Holy Spirit to purify, enlighten and strengthen our conscience.
B. Through inspired teaching and preaching of the Word of God.
God guides one man through His message to another. Prophets and apostles were messengers of divine guidance.
We need His divine teaching and guidance, because we cannot always trust the conscience.
God’s Word is a “lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.”
C. Through circumstances led by Him.
He closes some ways, only to open another path in His providence. It is His providence that led you here today. He supplied the Way – Jesus – YOU MUST CHOOSE OR REJECT HIM.
