Jeremiah 1:1-9, 2 Timothy 3:14-17.
2 Timothy 3:16 has been called the golden text of His Word. We don’t sort of have the Word of God, we Have the Word of God today.
We are not like some scientist waiting for a radio signal from space or heaven. We have His Word.
You may read the Bible, obey it, even teach it to others, but how do you know the Bible is true? How would you defend its truthfulness to an unbeliever?
First of all, we cannot prove to anyone that the Bible is true. Only the Holy Spirit can do that as He moves in the heart of a person who desires to know and do God’s will John 7:17.
From a human perspective we do have reason to trust:
I. THE BIBLE IS HISTORICALLY ACCURATE.
The writers of the Bible were honest, sane, sincere men who in many cases were eyewitnesses to what they recorded.
Their careful attention to detail show their sincerity and concern about details of the Bible. Luke 1:1-4.
The historical and geographical information that the Bible presents has been confirmed by other documents and archeological discoveries.
Not to mention the many prophecies in the Old Testament that have been fulfilled in great detail in the New Testament. Isaiah 52:13-53:12, Matthew 8:16-17, 27:30-31.
